Q
WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis is a natural altered state of mind that shares the same brain waves as meditation.
Clinical Hypnosis is process conducted by the client and practitioner, in which the practitioner professionally induces the client into the state of hypnosis that promotes relaxation, bypass the critical conscious mind to access the subconscious mind, as a means to encourage positive change, enhance performance and boost healthy life choices.
You cannot hypnotize someone against their will. With this said, our environment sometimes hypnotizes us unknowingly. For example, when you suddenly get the munchies after watching a potato chip commercial.
This is because the subconscious mind does not understand the difference between real and imagine. Hypnosis is in fact just a natural state of mind that we drift in and out of everyday.
Hypnagogic is that relaxed state your mind reaches just before you fall asleep.
Hypnopompic is that relaxed state your mind reaches before you wake up.
You are in absolute control and can bring yourself out of hypnosis at any time.
STRUCTURE OF THE HUMAN MIND
The mind is divided into three parts: the conscious, subconscious, and unconscious mind.
Conscious Mind: part of the mind that holds analytical and rational information. This is where short-term (temporary) memory is stored.
Subconscious Mind: part of the mind that holds emotions, beliefs, feelings, habits and worries. It works like an organic computer. The subconscious is the home to all of your emotions and your imagination, and it remembers everything you have ever seen, done, heard, felt and learned.
Unconscious Mind: part of the mind that is the domain of the automatic functioning of our being, which is affected by both the conscious and subconscious. It is the body’s response to an internal and external issue.
HOW DOES CLINICAL HYPNOSIS WORK?
While many of us would like to think that our conscious mind is in control as we go through our daily lives, the reality is that the subconscious mind really does determine much of what we do - including any of our habits.
In order for clinical hypnosis healing to take place, you and your practitioner must unearth, release, reprogram and transform memories that are stored at the subconscious level in order to exhibit positive behaviours at the conscious level.
When you are relaxed and in a clinical hypnotic state, your subconscious mind is optimally more open to positive suggestions, which allows for scientifically proven positive performance and habit changes.
CLIENT & PRACTITIONER PARTNERSHIP
Keep in mind that hypnosis is a joint effort partnership. Effectiveness of this process depends on the practitioner’s experience, techniques, tools and suggestions, as well the client’s openness, willingness and receptivity to suggestions for positive change and results.
